Crossing

In 2010, we are going to cross in the opposite direction. Our continent, always dreaming of overseas, of the old incredible continent which lyes beyond our eyes, now is the center of a new vertex. A vertex that crosses different ways, regards, desires and expectations, building in this such a young continent the point of convergence for artists from different nationalities, languages and cultures.

The crossing of Vértice Brasil 2010 looks for a face for our origins. When we are far away it is possible to look to the starting point in a clear, precise and transforming way. We get to know ourselves and the other and recognize difference. We permit to look to ourselves with the other’s eyes. What are we searching in this crossing? When we invite people to cross the ocean or the country and come meet us, we are making questions. What moves us towards the other? In our history, navigators were searching the Far East but arrived in an unknown land. This search for the other takes us to places never exploited before. On a journey, we can reach our expectations or subvert them. Every little experience within a crossing gets a new colour. Then maybe it is possible to feel that strange feeling that travelling is always a return to oneself.
