Vértice Brasil - women’s theatre meeting and festival, happened in Florianópolis, from July 14th to 19th 2008, gathering artists from Brazil and abroad, creating a Brazilian version for The Magdalena Project, an international network of women in contemporary theatre that has participants in over 50 countries.
During six days, a photo exhibition, four conferences and meetings, six workshops and eight performance works took place in different spaces such Galeria Lindolf Bell, Academia Catarinense de Letras, and Centro de Artes da UDESC.
The performances, conferences and the exhibition “Women on scene” were free and gathered around 1500 people during the whole week. The workshops were offered only to the 40 participants and were leaded by internationally known artists Julia Varley (Danmark),Jill Greenhalgh (Wales), Leo Sykes (Brazil) and Ana Cristina Colla (Brazil).
Vértice Brasil had participants from different regions in Brazil (SP, RJ, PR, RS, ES, MG e SC) and established a Brazilian network. In this occasion, people created a blog and a virtual community as ways to keep in contact and deepen relationships.
